Bow Tie shoot, The Dollie House

On Monday the amazingly talented due of Resh and Riz Dollie from The Dollie House helped me out with some pictures of my bow ties for my Kamers display. Resh Dollie is one of the most stylish people I know and when I was trying to think of someone who could model the bow ties he was the first person who came to mind. A huge thanks to Resh for modeling and Riz for taking the pictures and for helping out at such short notice.

Catalog

Its been a very busy few days as I have been trying to put together a much needed catalog of Bow Peep products. My good friend Christine Watters very kindly came armed with her camera yesterday morning to take pictures of my products.
The catalog is quote boring as its for retailers but its been great to get some new images.

Regular blog readers might have noticed that I havent had new product images in ages and if you haven't been to a market where I have a stall you wouldnt have seen most of my products as the online store only features a fraction of what I make. But I am working on that and over the next few weeks the online store will be updated to include all the missing products.

These are some of the images which Christine took for the catalog.

Two Door Cinema Clun

On Saturday I went to the (free! yes it was free) 5 Gum Experience. Two Door Cinema Club were the headline act. They were excellent, the support acts were all excellent but the venue, wow the venue blew my mind. It was at an abandond cement factory in Philippi, just outside the airport in Cape Town.
It did make me sad that it was a bunch of privilaged South Africans partying in the middle of one of the countris poorest arias. That wasnt cool at all, but the venue was perfect for the concert.

Rocktober: Rocking the Daisies

I'm back in Cape Town after an epic weekend at Rocking the Daisies 2011. It was my 5th RTD and it most definitely lived up to my very high expectation. Not many of my friends went this year but it was kind of cool as I got to meet great new people. You know you had a good weekend when you walk away with a bunch of new friends.

This year Daisies really sold out and not in terms of ticket sales. Everything was sponsored, they even changed the branding to fit in with Black Label's colour scheme. So its a bit disappointing to know that they are making a fortune from us by charging a lot when you know they had most things sponsored.

Civil Twilight was one of the highlights of my weekend, I didn't know their music before Daisies but they are my new favorite band after their amazing performance on Saturday night. Its a bold statement but they were better than Coldplay!

I spent about two hours (in the blazing sun) at the tiny Converse stage watching Deep Fried Man and Tall Ass Mo. Deep Fried Man played the guitar while Tall Ass Mo played the tambourine, they both made up songs about the strange people walking passed the stage (and at RTD their is no shortage of strange looking people), it was the funniest thing ever, they were very politically incorrect but it was so funny I was in tears most of the time.

After the SA lost the rugby, the mood of the festival took a dive, everyone was devastated, it just went very quiet. We decided not to stay and listen to the music after the rugby as it was about 40deg and no one was in the mood to sit in the sun.
