Tote bag FLASH sale

All tote bags on the online store are now on sale!
My little loft studio is being painted next week and I don't feel like packing up all the stock and moving it downstairs (very steep stairs) so I thought why not have a crazy flash sale.

The sale runs from today till next week Wednesday.
Visit the online store to see all the designs.

Fairlady 100 under R300

Bow Peep tote bags are on a bit of a roll this week. Fairlady magazine included it in their 100 under R300 feature in the August 2012 edition. Staff members at Fairlady were tasked to find their favorite items under R300 and Kelly-Anne chose the Mustache tote bag designed by Michelle Barron as her item.

Hello Olive tote bags

A while ago I sent out a brief for designs for the Bow Peep Tote Bag Collaboration and I am really excited to share with your the designs I choose for the bags.

The first two designs were created by Colleen Invernizzi a graphic designer from Cape Town. Colleen has an amazing blog called Hello Olive and she is about to launch her own online store.
Keep a lookout for a tote bag competition on the Hello Olive blog!

I chose two of her designs for the bags. The one is of two very cute owls and the other is a simple but striking geometric pattern. They both come in a variety of colours. The bags are available from the Bow Peep online store and from Cloak & Dagger.

Tote Bag Collaboration

Im starting something called the Bow Peep Tote Bag Collaboration
(suggestions of a better name are welcome).

I am looking for graphic designers, artists, illustrators, wana-be-artists etc to create designs which will then go on tote bags.
Michelle Barron was the first designer to have her work showcased on the tote bags.

 Whats in it for you?
You will be paid for your design and I will send you a tote bag. Each bag will be sold with a swing tag with your name and website details on it (if you have a website). I will also give you exposure threw this blog, the Bow Peep monthly newsletter and the Bow Peep Facebook page. The bags will be sold via the online store, markets which I have stalls at and at Cloak & Dagger. My aim is to give you as much exposure as I can.

If you are interested in coming up with a design please email me (leila@shopbowpeep.co.za) and ask for the design brief. The deadline is the 18 May.

The chosen designs will be screen printed onto the bags. This is going to be an ongoing project so if you don't think you will make this deadline then don't worry you can send in designs on an ongoing basis.

Just some things to remember when thinking about your design.
  • Bow Peep customers are predominantly female but the last tote bags which were made sold mostly to guys, so think about designs that would appeal to guys and girls.
  • The design needs to be in one colour.
  • It needs to be eye catching, very detailed designs don't translate well onto bags.
  • My customers are between the ages of 16 to 35 (the ones who buy tote bags).

Tote bags

Apologies for only posting these pictures now, these tote bags turned out to be the longest project I have undertaken since starting Bow Peep. Its taken many long nights of reinforcing the bags myself, ironing them, re-ironing them, folding etc etc, but they are done, and most of them are already been sold. I still have a few left which I will be selling at the City Bowl Fashion Market, at Cloak & Dagger and on my online store
The bags were illustrated by Michelle Barron

I want your designs!

This is a reminder about the tote bag design competition/project I am running. I am looking for anyone who wants to design an image to go on a tote bag. Why? Just because tote bags are cool! All you have to do is email me (leila@shopbowpeep.co.za) with a design. If I like your design I will get it printed on tote bags which I will sell on my online store and at a market in October (more on that later).

What you get: I will send you a free tote bags with your design and you will get a percentage of the royalties from the sale of your bag! Cool hey?

You don’t need to be a graphic designer, just come up with a cool idea. It can even be a saying or quote and you can be anywhere in the world to enter.

The deadline to submit designs is the end July.
