Kamers online store

Kamers recently launched their online store, the concept is the same as the events which are held around the country, unique and beautifully made products produced locally and to very high standards. All the products on the online store will only be on for a short time which means that the online store will change thought the year.

Elzaan from Lo Clothing has two of her beautiful origami brooches on the online store at the moment and Lolla as some of her lovely tea light holders. I think that all the products are very well priced especially considering that everything is locally made.

Pictures from Toffie

I have spent the last two days recovering from the madness of Toffie but it was a great weekend even though it was exhausting.  I got to meet some very cool people and my stall was right at the entrance to the market area so I was in a prime people watching position which was also fun.
Thanks to my regular customers who came to visit, its always lovely to see you guys and it was great to meet some twitter friends this weekend. I always love getting your feedback at markets and the response to my stall was really encouraging, thanks!

Artymiss

The one stall which I loved at Design Indaba was Artymiss.
I got a few of their little cards but I also really liked the larger paper cut out scenes.

Two birds with some stones

Two Birds with some Stones is a fantastic new Cape Town jewellery brand. It is run by Stacy and Jeanie who make everything by hand. The jewellery is creative and whimsical, I really love the 'suburb' necklaces. I'm looking forward to seeing what they make next.

Lola & Cash

I love Lola & Cash! Lola & Cash was started by Vikki in January of this year and all the jewellery is handmade in Cape Town. One of her rings was nominated for the Most Beautiful Object in South Africa at the 2011 Design Indaba.
I think the Pac-Man earrings are very cool!
Visit the Lola & Cash Etsy store and check out the Facebook page.

Toyboy Designs

I came across Toyboy Designs while looking threw A Fashion Friend. How rad are these Lego accessories?! I still have all my Lego from when I was little, I have donated most of my toys to a charity shop, I gave up my Barbies but I will never give up my Lego.
Toyboy is made in Johannesburg by Hendrik Smith.

Hout Couture

How cool are these wooden sunglasses! At Rocking the Daisies I saw a friend wearing the coolest pair of sunglasses made by Hout Couture (Hout means wood in Afrikaans). They are super affordable and they all come standard with polarized lenses.

All images are from Hout Couture

I asked Craig Cameron-Mackintosh, who is one of the people behind the brand some questions about Hout Couture...
When did you start Hout Couture?:

Hout Couture was started at the beginning of 2011 as part of a UCT postgrad course in entrepreneurship. Since then the sunglasses have gone through a lot of development and the brand has taken off and shows huge potential beyond just a varsity project.
Are the sunglasses made locally?:
Yes, Hout Couture's factory is in Cape Town. We try to be as eco-friendly as possible but for the components that we can't source locally (such as the polarised lenses) we plant a tree to offset our carbon footprint
And are you planning on expanding your range to include any other products in the future?:
Yes, we are planning on adding new styles of sunglasses to our range to appeal to more tastes. We're also going to be launching other organic-material fashion pieces like wooden bangles, earrings, bamboo-fabric clothing and even wooden watches in the future!

Good luck to the team behind Hout Couture, its such a cool product!

The very talented Christine Watters who took the pictures for the Bow Peep online store home page has been very busy taking some amazing images. She just got back from two photo shoots in Johannesburg where she took some pictures of Andrew and Ashleigh for their "I Do" shoot. Spot the Bow Peep bunting! Thanks Christine for using one of my buntings in the shoot:-)

Cape Fridge Fragments

Found this via Poppytalk, they are fridge magnets made by Michael Chandler. The magnets are made from fragments of blue and white china found from around Cape Town. Visit his website for the story behind the magnets. I would love to know where he finds discarded porcelain in Cape Town, all that I find is plastic bags...

Illustrations by Alex Latimer

I was looking at the House and Leisure website today and came across 'The Boy Who Cried Ninja' by South African illustrator Alex Latimer.
I really like his illustrations and his new children's book looks cool. When I was little I thought all books should have pictures or they were not worth reading and I think I would have loved this book when I was little.  I particularly love 'E is for erroplayn'
